Is the financial planner:
- registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC)? Your financial advisor should be a Licensed Securities Dealer, an investment advisor or an Authorised Representative of a Licensed Securities Dealer. Ask to see their license!
- a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA)?The FPA is the national body for financial planning professionals. It has the authority to investigate complaints and disciple its members who must abide by the code of ethics and rules of professional conduct
- bound by an industry code of conduct which reinforces ethical behaviour and service levels?
Do they have:
- appropriate financial planning qualifications (e.g., Diploma of Financial Planning, Certified Financial Planner)?
- access to a wide choice of investments and products from a variety of fund managers and life insurance companies?
- access to regularly updated legislative and economic information from a reputable source?
- a tried and tested financial planning process?
- a regular review policy?
